Call for undergraduate submissions: We invite you to attend and present at the 9th annual James C. McCroskey and Virginia P. Richmond Undergraduate Scholars Conference (USC) to be held concurrently with the ECA’s 110th annual convention. USC events are typically scheduled from Thursday through Saturday. The USC will center on the convention theme, Creating Our Future, which encourages us to consider how we, as Communication scholars, can build a better future. A central question is “what resources do I create and how can those resources create new possibilities for others?”

The USC will feature the best research from undergraduate Communication students. All submissions will be blind-reviewed. Submissions must be free of identifying information, track changes, and track comments. Submission options are:

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING COMPETITIVE PAPERS

Each student can submit a maximum of two papers. Papers should be a maximum of 25 double-spaced pages, excluding references and appendices, and typed in 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Papers should be written in accordance with the University of Chicago Manual of Style or APA 6th edition. Times New Roman font is preferred. The main document should NOT include any identifying author, school, faculty, or contact information. Be sure to inspect the document and remove personal information from the document properties.

ECA will now be using Attendee Interactive to manage submissions and reviews. This is the same system used by the National Communication Association so you may be familiar with it. The deadline for submissions remains the same, December 17, 2018 at 11:59 PM. You will be prompted to create a new User ID and Password to submit your work. An email will be sent to the membership in the next couple of months to announce when Attendee Interactive will be open for submission. Additional information, including a link to the submission page, will be sent to ECA members on the day the submission website opens.

When submitting work, the following fields will be completed:

Professional Responsibility Statement: In submitting the attached paper or proposal, I/We recognize that this submission is considered a professional responsibility. If this submission is accepted and programmed, I/We agree to register for the 2019 ECA Convention, pay fees, and present in Providence. I/We understand that presenters with last minute emergencies must make arrangements as possible for an alternate presenter as well as communicate their absences to both the USC Planners and ECA VP; no shows will be removed from the official program.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING PANEL DISCUSSIONS

Each student can submit a maximum of one discussion panel. Submitted documents should NOT include any identifying author, school, faculty, or contact. Be sure to inspect the document and remove personal information from the document properties.
