Eastern Communication Association

113th Annual Convention

April 7 to 9, 2022

Philadelphia, PA

The Applied Communication Interest Group of the Eastern Communication Association is now accepting submissions for the 2022 conference. The 2022 convention theme is “(Re)union,” marking our first in person ECA after two years of being unable to physically gather. Toward that end, First Vice President Dr. Pamela J. Lannutti invites ECA interest groups and members to develop programming for the 2022 convention that focuses on “(Re)union” in a variety of ways, including…

Reuniting colleagues who have similar research and teaching interests,

Reuniting colleagues who have made significant contributions through their collaborative work,

Reuniting colleagues who have shared mentorship experiences,

Building new unions within ECA to move our discipline forward,

Building new unions between ECA and the larger communities in which our members live and work,

Creating opportunities to connect around shared research and teaching interests,

Opportunities for reflection on the effects of the global pandemic on our teaching, research, and professional development and how to move forward,

Deliberation on how communication scholars and educators contribute to a post-pandemic world.

This interest group invites submissions of papers, panels, and roundtable/program proposals that focus on how communication theory, research, and practice contribute to addressing pragmatic, social issues to harbor a better future. The Applied Communication Interest Group is committed to help the general public solve socially relevant problems and to test the usefulness of communication theory in "real-world" settings. Research should highlight the connection between theory and practice by demonstrating theoretical applications and the usefulness for potential users to understand and implement recommendations will be accepted.
