Short Course 10: Transforming Students’ Lives Through Faculty-Led, Short-Term Study Abroad Programs

This workshop provides university faculty with a broad understanding of how to develop academically sound, culturally relevant short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs.
Facilitators provide an overview of the building blocks for designing an abroad program. They lead participants to conceptualize how to match their own areas of competency and content expertise with potential field sites. Working backwards from an outcomes-based curriculum, participants discover how to build rigorous curriculum that engages students in content and context.
