ECA 2019 Convention - Special Request to Support The Providence Food Bank
Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email finds you well. I'm writing to ask for your help with an exciting event I have planned for ECA 2019. Norbert Mundorf (University of Rhode Island) and Julie Volkman (ECA 2nd VP, Local Arrangements, Bryant University) worked hard to find opportunities for ECA to have a positive impact on our host community. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank could use our help. Thus, I will be asking for food bank donations during the conference. To encourage student involvement, I am planning to ask students to bring donations for the food bank to be exchanged for a raffle ticket for t-shirts representing our many universities/colleges and local vicinities.
What am I asking of you? Please bring a t-shirt from your affiliation (or local school/area if you are retired) to be raffled off to students who bring a contribution for the Rhode Island Community food bank. If you plan on bringing a t-shirt, please complete the form found here by 3/22 to help us understand what our prize inventory will look like. Please bring medium, large and extra-large t-shirts. Instructions for dropping off t-shirts at ECA will be forwarded. T-shirts will be displayed until the time of the raffle.
The t-shirts will be raffled off at the James C. McCroskey and Virginia P. Richmond Undergraduate Scholars' Reception. I thought this would enable students to take something away from ECA in addition to all of the fine knowledge and professional experiences they will carry home with them.
The Providence Food Bank could use our help.
