Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication Studies

Successful candidates will have training in health communication, with experience in the development of health communication programs preferred. This is an initial three-year appointment that will be converted to a tenure-track position if enrollment in the health communication program meets established goals.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in communication studies and health communication. Teach health communication and foundations of human communication courses. Develop a major and minor in health communication. Support the university’s communication studies and health sciences programs, as well as contribute to the general education program and possibly develop January travel courses. Teaching load is 24 semester hours per year. Successful implementation of the major and minor in health communication must occur before conversion to a tenure-track appointment would occur.

Qualifications: Ph.D. required. The candidate must provide evidence of successful college teaching in the area of health communication. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for an applied approach to the study of health and human communication within the liberal arts context.
