Communication Quarterly, Special Issue on the Rhetoric of the 2016 U.S. Election,

Communication Quarterly invites submissions for a special issue on the Rhetoric of the 2016 U.S. Election. This special issue aims to include case studies, critical analyses, and comparisons of the public discourse of the 2016 general elections in the United States, including local, state, and national elections. While the special issue welcomes critical analyses, we especially encourage submissions that foster dialogue and encourage understanding between the diverse yet often contested stakeholders of the 2016 election. Essays may examine case studies of campaign rhetoric, or may analyze portions of the fuller rhetorical field of the 2016 general election, in the United States. Submissions utilizing a variety of rhetorical methods are encouraged, such as rhetorical criticism of public discourse and media, critical/cultural studies, argumentation theory, rhetorical field methods, etc.

Full-length submissions are due August 1, 2017. Submissions should conform to Communication Quarterly instructions for authors, particularly (1) manuscripts should not exceed 30 double-spaced pages including tables, notes, and references; and (2) for the special issue, manuscripts should use the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition.
