ECA 2020 Convention - Community College and GIFTS Interest Group Updates

Hello Everyone,

The 2020 ECA Annual Convention will take place from April 1st to April 5th in Baltimore, MD. There are four wonderful panels sponsored/co-sponsored by Community College Interest Group and two GIFTS (Great Ideas for Teaching Students) panels you may be interested. The finalized conference program can be searched through Attendee Interactive (https://ww4.aievolution.com/eca2001/index.cfm?do=cnt.page&pg=1002). I am writing to invite you to attend the convention and take the advantage of conference early registration rate by March 1st. You can find the conference registration information at ECA website (https://www.ecasite.org/aws/ECA/pt/sp/convention_registration). If you plan to stay in Baltimore while attending the conference, you are also encouraged to stay at conference hotel. Conference hotel information can also be located at ECA website (https://www.ecasite.org/aws/ECA/pt/sp/convention_hotels).

The Community College Interest Group also sponsors Connect Conference this year. We hope you will join us for a morning of connecting with colleagues, learning from experts, and collaborating with others. Connect Conference will be held Thursday, April 2nd from 12:00-4:00 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor hotel during the 2020 ECA convention. The featured presenter this year is Dr. Isa N. Engleberg, Professor Emerita of Prince George’s Community College. Dr. Engleberg is Past President of the National Communication Association and coauthor of several communication textbooks, including THINK Public Speaking. This lively presentation, discussion, and hands on workshop will focus on the need to renew, refresh, and perhaps “re-tire” some of what we do in the classroom. We will explore what’s working and what might need to change in terms of our classroom approach. Lunch and refreshments will be provided in the Connect Conference. The registration fee for the Connect Conference is $30. Please contact Jessica Papajcik (jpapajcik@startstake.edu) should you have any question.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you in Baltimore this year.
