Assistant Professor in Interpersonal Communication

The Department of Arts and Communication seeks to fill a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor in Interpersonal Communication. The candidate will join a rapidly growing program offering a B.A. in Communication Studies with developing concentrations in Corporate Communication, Health & Relational Communication, Media & Public Communication, and Communication Studies, along with minors in Communication Studies and interdisciplinary minors in Film Studies, Religious Studies, and Gender Studies.

This position is a tenure-track position with a specialization in Interpersonal Communication. Interested candidates must also have competence teaching either communication theory or communication research methods, as well as a variety of interpersonal communication courses related to topics such as gender, race, health communication, and conflict resolution. Candidates with research or teaching interests in Critical Race Studies or Latino/Latina Studies are especially welcome. Excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential. Successful candidates will begin in August 2021 and be expected to carry a 3/4 teaching load consisting of a mix of lower-and upper-level communication courses in a variety of teaching modalities.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a terminal degree in Interpersonal Communication, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution. 

Candidates must have college teaching experience.

Candidates from traditionally under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Communication Studies is preferred; however, ABD candidates may be considered with completion of the candidate's terminal degree prior to January 2022.

The committee will begin reviewing on February 1, 2021 and close when the position has been filled. Review of materials will be followed by telephone interviews with prospective candidates and continuing with virtual interviews until the position is filled.
