Greetings Community College Interest Group members,
Happy Fall! I hope that everyone’s semesters are going well, as we enter the month of October.
CCIG Leadership Change
My name is Laura O’Connell. I am a Professor at Nassau Community College in New York and proud ECA/CCIG member since 2009. I have enjoyed a variety of programs for the CCIG over the years. However, each year what I really look forward to is reconnecting with members and meeting new ones.
Up to this point, for the 2026 convention I have been one of the Program Planners for G.I.F.T.S. alongside Ellen Santa Maria. Ellen will continue as sole Chairperson for G.I.F.T.S. while I step into the role as your new Community College Interest Group Chairperson. As she’s had to step aside from her role, I’d like to thank Victoria Nabors for everything she has done as CCIG Chair.
The members of the CCIG are known for our creativity! Show us what you’ve got! (But, by October 19th, please!)
Year after year, we come back from the ECA Convention with ideas for our courses, resolutions to problems many of us have in common, and thoughts to ponder, all for the benefit of our pedagogy and our students. It is truly a pleasure to learn from one another.
Whether you’ve presented before or are new to it, we invite you to be a part of this community of collaboration.

We had a robust discussion at the CCIG Group Meeting in Buffalo last year. If one of the ideas that came out of that meeting (listed below) sparks your interest, creates a new idea, or speaks to an area of focus for you, please submit a proposal for a panel or roundtable related to one of these ideas:
