The Nonverbal Communication Interest Group of ECA is merging with the Interpersonal Communication Interest Group. This decision was finalized this past weekend in coordination with the group’s leadership and the ECA Executive Council.
The Interpersonal Communication IG has enthusiastically welcomed this collaboration and is already working to revise their charge to formally include nonverbal communication scholarship. For you, the practical change is simple: future conference submissions that you would have directed to the Nonverbal Interest Group should now be submitted through the Interpersonal Interest Group. This merger ensures that nonverbal communication remains a valued and visible part of ECA, supported by a larger, thriving community. We hope you'll join the Interpersonal Communication Interest Group and continue sharing your work.
We're grateful for everything you've contributed to the Nonverbal Communication Interest Group and look forward to seeing the great work ahead. I hope to see you all in Reston, VA for ECA 2027!
